PSQuest

Learn PowerShell by closing help desk tickets in a fake office you can't break.

I work in IT, and the fastest way I've seen anyone get comfortable with PowerShell is using it on real tickets. Problem is, nobody wants the new tech practicing on production AD. So I made a fake one.

PSQuest gives you a simulated PowerShell console hooked up to a pretend company network (users, groups, PCs, services, files) and a queue of tickets to work. Kill the wrong process, stop the wrong service, delete the wrong file. Go nuts. Nothing here touches a real machine.

If you would like something added, leave it in a comment and I'll see about getting it in the simulation!

What's inside

  • A 38-step guided tutorial, from Get-Location all the way to remote sessions
  • 30 ticket types pulled from real help desk work: lockouts, password resets, group membership, stuck print queues, low disk, bulk changes from a CSV, Windows 11 readiness checks, and more
  • Graded on the end result, not the exact command. If it works, it counts.
  • Hints when you're stuck (each ticket is worth 9 points. each hint used takes 3 away to minimum of 1.)
  • Stats, streaks and personal bests
  • The cmdlets you'll actually use on the job: Get-ADUser, Unlock-ADAccount, Get-Service, Invoke-Command and more, with real-looking output and error messages

Who it's for

New help desk techs, IT students, and anyone who has ever opened that blue window and hoped for the best.

Good to know

  • Runs in your browser. No account, no install, nothing leaves your machine.
  • It's a simulation, so it covers the stuff you'll use day to day, not every corner of PowerShell.

Disclaimer: This was made with the assistance of AI to recreate how PowerShell behaves and build a fake Active Directory to practice on. I work in IT and already fight off carpal tunnel doing this stuff for real all day, so I cut that corner lol.
